Coconut Oil Uses

I will be doing a series of articles on Spices and Oils and their various benefits.

Today I re focus on  the series again by tackling one of the holy grails of hair and beauty and that is (drum roll please) Coconut Oil.

Coconut Oil is the oil extract from Coconuts and is used for a
myriad of purposes such as for beauty, hair, health and skin rejuvenation.

Pure coconut oil will not clog your pores. It will hydrate your skin but will not leave you feeling greasy.

Coconut oil is antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal due to the lauric acid, carpric acid, and caprylic acid that is present in the oil.

This is according to Acne Skin Site

Lets start with its use in helping to strengthen fine dry hair. It is an oil whose hair strand penetration abilities are beyond average which is why most naturalistas have it as a staple in their hair regimen.

One of its best known uses is as pre poo,(pre shampoo) apply it in your hair before bed and wear a silk or satin scarf.

When you do shampoo your hair, the shampoo will not strip your hair of all its natural hair.

You can also add it into your leave in Conditioner just to make your hair shiny and soft and above all healthily beautiful.

Coconut oil can be used in place of a moisturizer on your skin. Here you have two options you can either apply it alone or pour some into lotion or body cream.

It is a great sealant which will definitely lock in moisture on your skin. It has a great non over powering smell which both men and women will love.

If you have dry nail and cuticles or even if your nails are breaking you might want  to slather on some coconut oil on your on your nails and cuticles relieve dryness.

For those soft kissable lips, I have a little secret for you, lightly brush your lips with a tooth brush and some brown sugar, then dab a little coconut oil on them, (you will thank me later trust me).

For those who have problems with acne, Coconut Oil might just be your friend; applying it will help minimise acne break outs and prevent the little terrorists from occurring.

It also leaves your skin looking radiant and refreshed because of its moisture sealing abilities.

Open pimples and wounds also benefit from the healing powers of coconut oil because of its antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.

For the budding massage enthusiast Coconut Oil is absolutely great for massaging purposes because it just helps the fingers glide gently and loosen the tension and stress from noted muscles.

I love Coconut Oil and it is definitely a staple in my home, because it is quite affordable and can be found in most Indian shops.

Talking of love,I want to thank all the outpouring of support I received in my inbox over my nomination  over my appearance at the Zambia Music Awards.

Lets take a moment and just be awed by the gentlemen and ladies who came looking great at the awards.

I have put a little picture for my fans to just see what I wore at the Zambia Music awards and also to shun the critics who think that natural hair cannot be red carpet worthy.

Nomai of NC Hair Studio did my hair and I do believe I looked great, don’t you think so? She just corn rowed it and did curls
.

NC hair studio is also responsible for my hair at the Africa Magic Awards and Towani Clarke of  Kutowa Fashion Label the master mind behind my misisi esque princess esque Movie Star dress in Nigeria.
